ADSL Modem with Internet Gate
The IX66 series of ADSL modems from Intertex represents a new generation of advanced, highly functional and compact broadband access products. It provides full rate ADSL and ADSL Lite and also includes an access router and firewall. The firewall provides security and has the unique feature of handling IP Telephony and other applications conforming to the SIP standard.

ADSL is the most commonly used technology for mass deployment of broadband access to the Internet. No new cabling is required since it uses the existing telephone copper wire from the central office to your location. By modulating the data on high frequencies above the telephone audio band, the telephone functions remain unaffected. Full rate ADSL gives up to 8 Mbps downstream (to you) and up to 1 Mbps upstream (from you) data speed.

ADSL
ADSL is the most commonly used technology for mass deployment of broadband access to the Internet. No new cabling is required since it uses the existing telephone copper wire from the central office to your location. By modulating the data on high frequencies above the telephone audio band, the telephone functions remain unaffected. Full rate ADSL gives up to 8 Mbps downstream (to you) and up to 1 Mbps upstream (from you) data speed.

Compatibility
Historically, the ADSL modem has been delivered to the user by the service provider and has been of the same brand as the DSLAM (central office modem). This has limited the user’s choice and slowed down attractive product development. With the deregulation of the telecom market, the stricter ADSL standards and the tougher competition, the user’s modem selection is no longer predetermined.

The Intertex ADSL series of modems have proven compatibility with the current DSLAMs from all major suppliers. Such ADSL systems are now being mass-deployed and the user can benefit from modems in neat packages, with functions such as built-in access router, firewall and more.

Access Router
The built-in access router separates your local network (LAN) from the Internet, assuring that only external data traffic is passed to and from the Internet. In addition, the NAT function allows your PCs and other equipment on the LAN to use private IP addresses, hidden from the Internet. And you only need a single global IP address to connect all the equipment you need!

Security
The firewall integrated with the access router assures that your LAN remains private and not part of the public Internet. The firewall uses packet filtering, stateful inspection and application proxys together with NAT to protect your network from malicious attacks that otherwise could expose your private data or crash your system.

The powerful yet easy to use configuration allows games and other applications to pass the firewall. First on the market, the IX66 firewall fully supports the SIP protocol, making it possible to use IP Telephony, Presence and Instant Messaging and Appliances Control. Previously, such applications were impossible on a protected LAN!

Features, Flexibility and Ease of Use
In addition to offering an unmatched combination of features and functionality, the IX66 ADSL modem with its Internet Gate is easy to use and set up. The basic set-up can be performed with the front panel keys. A built-in web server makes the full configuration available from any PC with a standard web browser connected to the network.

The user interface is designed to allow both professionals and ordinary users to configure the modem, access router and firewall easily. Although all common set-up and operation is self explanatory, built-in help and an on-line manual give the guidance and assistance that may be required for more advanced operations.
