The Intertex IX66 - ADSL Modem
The IX66 can include a complete high performance ADSL modem automatically detecting analogue (Annex A) and ISDN (Annex B) phone lines. If you have other types of broadband Internet connections, e.g. a cable modem or an existing ADSL modem, you use the IX66 model with a 10/100 mbps Ethernet WAN port.

The ADSL technology offers high speed fixed Internet connections over existent twisted-pair telephone lines. No new wiring is necessary and the telephone line is kept open for ordinary voice calls. ADSL is short for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line and is one of several technologies described under the generic term xDSL (HDSL, VDSL, SDSL, RADSL are examples of related technologies). Common to the xDSL technologies are that they all use existing twisted-pair telephone lines to transfer high speed data.

Theoretically everyone who owns an ordinary telephone can be connected to Internet with ADSL. Factors like, distance and quality of the line, may however reduce the speed and accessibility of the ADSL connection.

ADSL is a asymmetric technology which means that the user can receive more data then he can send. This facts reduces noise and disturbance on the line and results in speeds up to 8 Mbit/s to the user and up to 1 Mbit/s from the user.
