VPN Client Wizard

Connection name / comment - The name to give to the created VPN entries. Allows you to easier find the created configuration entries if you need to change them in the future. You are recommended to replace the standard entry with a more descriptive one.

The VPN client wizard tries to create a VPN client that can connect to a remote VPN server. There are however many different kinds of VPN servers. The wizard must receive some information about the server to be able to create a suitable client.
The necessary information is usually provided by the system administrator of the remote VPN server. If you do not know what to enter - ask them.

VPN protocol - There are several different VPN protocols used by different VPN servers. It is vital that you select the correct protocol.
(L2TP stands for L2TP-over-IPSec)

Identification - There are several different ways VPN servers can identify you. Usually it is either by password, pre-shared key, or certificate.
Mark the checkbox indicating the way of identification you have received from the system administrator of the remote VPN server, and enter the received data into the fields following it.

Remote server - The name (URL) or global IP address of the remote VPN server to connect to.

Remote Network - Subnet and mask of the network behind the remote VPN server - the remote network you connect to.
You must specify the remote network so that your unit will recognise traffic going to that network and redirect it into the VPN tunnel. The remote network is not allowed to be the same as your local network.

Click on button after all relevant fields has been entered to create the VPN client.
The created VPN client will connect to the remote VPN server as soon as you turn on your unit, and keep the connection open all the time while it is powered on.
All PCs connected to port ET2 can access computers on the network behind the remote VPN server without the need of running any VPN clients on them.

For most protocols the VPN client wizard will create the suitable client after you click "Create VPN Client".
However, if you have specified "have received certificate file" the Wizard needs more information before setup is complete:

step 2: Import Certificate
Specify the file that contains the server's certificate that you have received from the system administrator of the remote VPN server.

step 3: Create Certificate
(visible only if no local certificate has been created yet) Subject field of the certificate to be created. You are recommended to replace the standard entry with a more descriptive one, like your name.

final step: Save certificate
You must give your certificate back to the VPN server.
Give this certificate file to the administrator of the VPN server.
